| Introduction | Eliza Callaghan arrived in the UK from Poland in 1987, after completing her college education. She studied law at the University of Kent in Canterbury and her LPC at London Metropolitan University. Specialising in Employment Law, Commercial and Civil Litigation, Eliza has spent years gaining extensive experience through working in the City of London. She qualified as a solicitor in 2005. She has always enjoyed the challenge of litigation and negotiations involved in Employment Law and in Commercial and Civil Litigation. She finds it extremely rewarding dealing with real people, helping them through personal difficulties and achieving success that makes such a difference to their lives. In addition to her day-to-day work Eliza is eager to ensure that she retains her ties with Poland by providing services to Polish community. Eliza has acted for many clients in Employment Tribunal proceedings including unfair dismissal, discrimination, equal pay, breaches of restrictive covenants and other claims, and, when appropriate, conducts the advocacy at hearings. Eliza also regularly advises on compromise agreements, disciplinary, grievance, performance and sickness related issues as well as resolving end-of-employment situations cleanly and simply. Other work includes working on due diligence for employers, advising on the enforcement of post termination restrictions, negotiating six figure severance packages, advising on Transfer of Undertakings and redundancies. Eliza’s commercial work includes acting for companies in breach of contract proceedings involving foreign, in particular Scottish and Polish, laws and jurisdictions. In addition, Eliza is experienced in dealing with property damage litigation, repossession proceedings and debt recovery actions as well as standard cases of breach of contract. Eliza regularly provides training to a variety of clients from private individuals to international businesses. |
